Full verbal inspiration of Israel’s guardianship

From a forum thread: Sorry. Was too rushed to get the reference and link earlier.

(Rom 3:1-4 NKJ) What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision? 2 Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God. 3 For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect? 4 Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: “That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged.”

Verse 2 implies that the guardianship of the sayings of God is given to the nation of Israel. Such guardianship is connected to the covenants and to the commitment of Israel prior to the Ten Commandments to obey all that God told them. God provided prophets as part of this covenant. Paul extends this provision to cover the writing and preservation (including, I believe, editing and copying) of the spoken words of God. Like the spoken prophetic word, this guardianship is fully verbally inspired.

When valid testimony under the Law ended with the destruction of the second Temple in 70 ad, such guardianship was suspended. Subsequent preservation of both Old and New Testaments from error has been providential. Thus some variation in minor matters is found.
