Mamas don’t let your babies grow up to be video / audio addicts

Pictures and videos have their place.

But the captivation of the consciousness through the processing of visual information generally makes the rate of reception of useful information much slower.

Writing and speaking ability seems to have generally suffered from the rise of modern media.

The recorded speech and writing of yesteryear seems to make this point painfully plain.

The inventor of the essay and its greatest author was deprived of a living language during his cradle days. A tutor taught him Latin. French was forbidden in his presence until later.

Perhaps keeping a baby from visual media today might result in even greater genius.
